Author: zion ng
Introduction
In short, Human communication is a process of exchanging information in a medium. It involves the interaction between 1 or more people with either a common language or with a translator.
Model of Human Communication
Human communication can be represented in a model. A model can apply to any symbolic representation of a thing, process or idea. Models can graphic, verbal or mathematical. (Little john, 1989, pp-6)
In the model above, it shows two people communicating/ having a conversation. It starts with communicator A talking to communicator B.
In this process, the communicator A sends a message through air (medium), the message passed through the medium is got by the communicator B (receiver).
Then, the communicator B decodes the information and understands the meaning and sends it (reply)back to the communicator A. There by meaningful information exchange take place, but the meaningful information exchange happens due to the common language.
This is an example of interaction with a common language, if there is no common language between them, then a translator will come into place as shown below.
